COMMUNITY WORK

As one of the largest grassroots football clubs in the UK we are an important and integral part of the local community. As part of this we take pride in supporting a number of locally based charities that provide support to those most in need.

Who we support

WBC Support Fund

West Bridgford Colts purpose is to provide opportunities for children and young adults to play football regardless of background or financial circumstances. Funded by our Club sponsor The Campbell Clinic, we ensure that those who can’t pay our monthly subs or have challenging personal circumstances are still able to train and play with the Club. We are also developing a partnership with Nottingham Emmanuel School to provide football training free of charge for up to 6 children per season who would otherwise not be able to play.

The Friary

Based on Melton Rd in West Bridgford, The Friary provides practical support to homeless people and those needing their support.

West Bridgford Colts partnership with The Friary has involved a number of activities including a SleepOut, funding a defibrillator for their drop-in centre and raising money at our annual festival weekend.

Notts County Foundation

Aligning with our work and ethos, NCF have for over 30 years used the power of sport to make a difference to people’s lives. Our partnership with NCF was formed in late 2023 and is under development. The partnership between WBC and NCF will develop over the coming years with the objective of giving our players the opportunity to benefit from NCF events and match day experiences, whilst the club and our coaches and players supports the excellent work of the Foundation.

Tom Maccabee Memorial Fund

Ex Colts Player, Tom Maccabee was killed in a car accident on December 21st 2014. Since then, Tom’s family and friends have been working together with West Bridgford Colts to raise money for projects, bringing football to those who might not otherwise have the chance to play.
So far, we have helped to fund the building of a football pitch for a local community and orphanage in Nepal in association with the Nepal Youth Foundation.
We have also been the primary funders in the foundation of a Girls football team in a slum district outside of Kampala in Uganda.

Defibrillators

Following the tragic death of 17 year old Dylan Rich, the Club has become acutely aware of the importance that all sporting organisations in the Community have quick access to this life saving equipment.

We have raised funds to help other organisations install  defibrillators at their facilities and have campaigned for the removal of VAT from defibrillators. This campaign led to our Chairman visiting the Prime Minister at No 10 and securing a £1m fund to provide sporting organisations with Defibrillators.
