update on regatta way petition

As many of you will have seen in the local press recently, Nottingham County Council (NCC) have approved the recommendation that Regatta Way Sports Ground, together with some adjacent land, is the most suitable location for the 3rd West Bridgford School and a relocated Lady Bay Primary School. At the same meeting the council approved funding for further work on impact assessment and design of these proposals.

This decision is clearly disappointing for everyone involved in WB Colts and Gedling & Sherwood Cricket Club. However it is still far from certain that the proposed schools will be built at Regatta Way, and it does not mean that the clubs will be evicted from the ground.

Representatives from the two sports clubs have been working hard with NCC over the last 18 months to ensure that our requirements and aspirations are considered in any plans put forward. Officers at the Council have committed to engaging with us on any designs to ensure impact is minimised and that legal agreements are put in place to secure the future of our clubs and that they can continue to develop and grow.

Your support in signing our petition has made a huge difference to the profile and impact of our campaign. We also have the support of many councillors at NCC including local councillors Jonathan Wheeler & Liz Plant, our local MP, Sport England, ECB & The FA. It is however essential that you continue to show your support by sharing the petition and ensuring that our local councillors know the important part our clubs play in the community.

Further updates will be sent out as the plans develop.
