Coaching information
This page outlines everything you need to know as a coach at West Bridgford Colts — from qualifications and safeguarding to development opportunities and club expectations.
West Bridgford Colts Football Club is an England Accredited 3 star Club. This is the highest level of Club status within the FA accreditation scheme and this acknowledges the most advanced level of club development and football provision.
There are a number of benefits that this status brings the Club, and an important part of this attainment is ensuring all our coaches hold the appropriate qualifications.
- There must be a minimum of 2 coaches at all football activities for each team – training and matches.
- All coaches must have their photo uploaded to their FA profile
- Only coaches listed on the team (or pool) squad list are able to coach
- Please note that only FA courses and FA DBS checks are valid
Current requirements for every team are as follows:
- Coach one: must hold ALL of the following:
- In-date accepted DBS
- FA Level 1/Introduction to Coaching Football (I2CF) Qualification (Min)
- In-date Safeguarding Children Course / Recertification
- In-date Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF)
- Coach two (and any others) must hold the following:
- In-date accepted DBS
- In-date Safeguarding Children Course / Recertification
- In-date Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) OR In-date FA Sudden Cardiac Arrest Module & In-date FA Concussion Module
*Please note if you run a pool, then there must be 2 unique coaches per team within the pool. If a coach is listed against 1 team within the pool then they can work with any of the others teams within the pool.
It is advisable for the team to have a parent with an in date DBS and Safeguarding Children certificate who can stand in (don’t need to actively take part in the training session/coaching on game day) should one of the coaches be unavailable rather than cancelling a game or training session.
How to complete each of the above:
- DBS – please email Julie the coaches name, date of birth and FAN number (FA account number). When added to the system Julie will email the coach direct with full instructions *Please ensure coach FAN is set up with legal name, not abbreviation so matches legal documents when do DBS check. If coach is unsure if they have an FA account please email Julie with name and date of birth and system can be checked.
- Safeguarding – lasts for 2 years, new coaches use this link Safeguarding Children Course | England Football Learning. Existing coaches can renew using this link Safeguarding Children Recertification | England Football Learning
- Coaching course – please note you must have completed both the safeguarding course and the first aid course to enrol on this Introduction to Coaching Football | England Football Learning
- First Aid – The full course can be accessed here Introduction to First Aid in Football | England Football Learning.
- If someone in the team already holds this then instead you can complete one, or both of the following free courses: Sudden Cardiac Arrest | England Football Learning and Concussion Guidelines | England Football Learning.
- The club recommends everyone doing these free courses – they are available to all so can be accessed by parents or older players too.
